Built in 1910 by the grandson of Ulysses S. Grant, this hotel has been visited by such historic figures as Charles Lindbergh and FDR. Steeped in the ambiance of years gone by, the crystal chandeliers and polished marble pillars gleaming in the lobby are worth a look whether or not you stay here. Queen Anne mahogany furniture graces the over-sized, formally decorated rooms. Comforts such as plush terry robes and in-room movies provide touches of home. Suites offer even more luxuries like cozy fireplaces and private whirlpool tubs.

Not great for the rates

Extras: internet $13/day; gym $10/day; parking $24/day...for $270/night some of the services above should be free. \nCarpets were dirty. Toilet was rusty. \nFood was good. Central location. For the most part the staff was friendly.

wheww!!

the only reason why the value was good was because I only paid $40/night, compared to almost $100 if u book on their website...this used to be a spectacular hotel but not any more. The room was OK, though from reading other sites, this place could be worse. If you get this cheap, just be careful and hope your stay doesn't go bad. Mine was all right, though I wouldn't take the chance again until they renovate.

Stay away from this hotel !!!!

The staff are very rude and the service at the hotel is terrible. Over the years I have stayed at many hotels, and I can sincerely say that this is the worst hotel that I have ever stayed at.
