This book has a deceiving cover. Although the exterior is bland, the interior is one of San Diego's classiest treasures. Westgate Hotel is popular with foreign dignitaries for good reason. The awe-inspiring decor is rich, almost decadent. French tapestries, Napoleonic statues and antiques, original works by Gainsborough and Boucher, hand-cut Baccarat crystal chandeliers, and a dramatic marble staircase only hint at the hospitality and formality this grand hotel offers its guests.

Westgate in San Diego

We had the plesure to stay in the Westgate July 2004. It was an absolutely wonderful time! From the afternoon tea with live harp music to the gorgeous antiques, no detail was overlooked. The staff were all very friendly and you get the distinct impression that there is nothing more important for them to do than to make sure you are happy. The Sunday brunch was sumptuous, especially the crepes and the cream brulee.

Best Hotel in San Diego

The Westgate is by far the best hotel in all of San Diego! Their rooms are considerably larger compared to all others I've ever seen and by far more elegant. The food is absolutely to die for also.
