If you are looking for something different in a hotel, then look no further than the SoHo Grand. This isn't your average hotel. The rooms, though NYC small, are comfortable and stylishly decorated (it's like staying in your rich friend's guestroom). And what a neighborhood. It's a bit pricey, but hey, you are worth it. A great NYC experience.
06 Jun 2005 | A Yahoo! UserVery nice doormen and polite desk people. Comfortable room with good scenic mid-town view. Loved the full flowing shower without the annoying water flow insert like most hotels have. Easy access to subway entrances. Being a grand member (can sign up for free) enables you free internet access, but if not it costs about $10 per day. Luckily we signed up ahead of time. Would be nice if it had wireless internet, and c'mon, if you're charging that price for a hotel room free internet should be standard for everyone. Even the Comfort/Clarion chain has free internet. Surely the Soho Grand can do better. It's not like it costs the hotel anything spectacular to provide it. All in all a great hotel and I will stay there again next time most likely.
06 Jun 2005 | A Yahoo! UserTwo weeks ago, I had to get my cat from NYC and move him to London. I chose to stay at the Soho Grand as they said they were "animal friendly". There is no extra charge for the pet and there are loads of immenities for your animals as well. They even have their own room service menu! They offer anything you might require for your animal i.e. litter box, leash, food bowls, etc.
The best part about this is that I have a friend who is allergic to cats and was hesitant to come to the room. The housekeeping staff do a fantastic job in ensuring all animal hair is GONE when they are done cleaning your room. Not as much as a sniffle from my allergy riddled friend.
