I Got Stung (part 1)
If you like Elvis and are looking for a kitschy fun weird place to stay, this isn’t quite that. I don’t think adding an Elvis poster to the wall does the job. Granted we didn’t stay in one of the suites that are supposed to be all decked out, that may be more fun. If you L-O-V-E Elvis and have seen all of his movies and own all of his music, you’d probably get a kick out of this hotel and enjoy that it is right next to Graceland. If you want to be in the middle of the night life, you’d be happier shelling out some extra cash and staying downtown. There isn’t anything to do at night around this hotel. Graceland is the only attraction and isn't open at night. If you’re European and making an Elvis pilgrimage, I’m not sure if this is the place I’d like to stay after a 9-12 hour flight, for it has the feel of a worn Holiday Inn with Elvis posters. If you stayed at another hotel you’d get as much out of Graceland, Sun Studios, Beale Street and other attractions as you would staying here. If you’re traveling with kids, this could be a cheap option. Our room was $115 per night ($130 with all of the taxes) and there was a sitting room with a pull-out bed that could easily sleep a couple of kids and the bedroom with a huge bed. I don’t think all rooms have the sitting room, so be sure to ask for it if you’d want the extra space. Please refer to part 2 of my review for more details...
