This is my absolute favorite place in the entire world! We have been coming here for 20 years for the world-famous ribs, and we live in Arkansas! The dry-rub ribs are the best thing to eat on the planet, bar none! The meat just falls off the bone, with just the right amount of charredness. And the flavor, well, there is nothing else like it. The ribs are incredible every single time we go there to eat. There's never an off-night at the Rendezvous! Whenever we have out-of-town guests, this is the first place we take them. Oftentimes, the first thing they notice is the wonderful aroma in the air as we walk along the back alley leading to entrance. Then as we pass by the long-standing portrait of Bear Bryant upon entering, and descend down the stairs into the smoky cellar, our guests realize this is no ordinary rib joint. It's a special place, that has no equal on Earth, and they are about to experience what I like to call "a bit of rib heaven". Service, even on busy weekend nights, is very quick, efficient, and professional. Some have been there so long they are Memphis icons themselves! And they don't skimp on portions, which are generous. More often than not, they will set down a pitcher of your favorite soft drink so you can refill your own glass, always a big plus in my book! I cannot say enough good things about Charlie Vergos Rendezvous, other than I am a life-long customer who is very lucky to live close enough that I can eat there at least once a month! Anybody seeking "true rib perfection" along with a memorable Memphis experience alike no other should make a trip to the Rendezvous!

Best place in Memphis to eat Ribs! Not because of the ribs, but because of the ambiance. The culture and heritage of this resturant make it a special dining experience. The ribs are "charcoal smoked" which give them a unique flavor. They are "excellent". All the items on the menu are traditional "Southern" and eating there should be enjoyed as an experience, not just a meal. When visiting in Memphis, this is a definite place to "enjoy". Don't miss the experience!

The ambience at the Rendezvous is ok, but the food is lousy. I don't know how they got such a great name for bbq, because what I had there was not very good. The pulled pork was ok, edible, but I got their famous ribs to take home, and they were so dry and had so little meat on them,they went into the garbage. I will not waste my time or money there again.

The best all around ambiance, smell, staff and as an added bonus, they only serve Mich Light! Don't leave w/o trying the sausage and cheese yum!
