overrated

two stars

the service was on the haughty side. steak was huge and overcooked. otherwise, it was ok, but not spectacular by any means.

Looking forward to our next visit!

We live in the Los Angeles area,but on a recent trip to Memphis (October 2004) we found a jewel of a restaurant - Erling Jensen's. An upsupposing exterior gives way to a beautiful intimate interior. From the maitre d' to all of the wait staff the service is superb. Try their potato leek soup. Just the beginning of a great meal. We will make this a must on future trips to the Memphis area. The Ultimate Dining Experience!

It was our first evening in the city after arriving from a long flight on Nov.4, 2004. This was my first time to visit Memphis with my husband to attend our dear friends' wedding, Laila & Dominic Mondero, on Nov. 6, 2004. We wanted to dine at the best restaurant. So we made reservations at Erling Jensen's because it was highly recommended by many who have dined there. The warm-friendly and professional service impressed me from beginning to the end. We requested if the chef had a Tasting menu, which wasn't on the menu. The waiter was gracious enough to make arrangements for us and we had the most enjoyable 5 course meal that made us feel like Royalty! Each course was sized bigger than I expected. My favorite was the Foie Gras with raspberries and a sweet bread--! I had always wanted to try it and the taste was heavenly. I would dine there in an instant with my husband, next time I ever visit Memphis. Thank you Chef Jensen! You are by far, my favorite Chef!

This is mine and my husbands favorite place to go in Memphis. We drive 1 1/2 hours to eat there. The food has always been fantastic and the presentation is spectacular. The attendants are very personable and knowlegeable. A great dining experience.
