(Report Problem)Cardiff is a great city to visit for a weekend. Go to the bay one night, and the city centre the next. On the saturday there is plenty to do in the city, taking in the sites, museums, gallaries, shopping etc. On the sunday visit the local beahces, or Brecon beacons or fill the day with what you missed the previous day! The parks are amazing. Really, this is a lovely, friendly city.

(Report Problem)A wonderful place plenty to see and do.. take a trip from cardiff bay to penarth and enjoy an ice cream in the sun. The centre has plenty to offer especially around the civic centre. The weather was great for april. Plenty in the surrounding areas tosee and do. We visited 7 castles within 25 miles. Raglan castle superb and Cardiff castle wonderful. Beaches also quite near. We Would go again.
Great for: Beaches, Hiking/Camping, History/Culture, Theatre/Music, Nightlife, Budget Travel

(Report Problem)The city is quite small but this makes everything easy to reach. Great for shopping especially the arcades where you find small unusual shops. The market in the centre of the town is worth a visit but beware at one of the entranceways, you pass the fish counter...not exactly a great welcoming smell! The castle is a must visit for any tourist coming to cardiff. Another place worth a visit if you have time is the museum of Welsh life at St Fagans (a few miles outside the city). Here you will find buildings from all parts of Wales which have been moved there. On the negative side is car parking. The car parks are always busy so it's best to head for Sophia Gardens where they have open area parking. from there it's less than five minutes walk from the city centre. If you want to visit the bay (recommended!) then catch a bus from the city centre as it's quite a walk from the city.

(Report Problem)This is probably one of the best low-profile small cities in Europe, for two major reasons - Cardiff Castle is simply a MUST-see. Why ever Warwick castle is the most popular in the UK is beyond my comprehension. I have travelled to many sights in Europe, and this was one of the most unforgettable. Secondly, in a country which has horrible food, especially the local cuisine, it was amazing to find the restauraunt "Blas ar Gymru" means A Taste of Wales, in Welsh. This was one of the best restaurant experiences in my life; more memorable than anything from Paris or Italy. Reservations required, I went on a night which had a harp player. When the staff found out we were from the US, the staff and many of the local Welsh patrons sung the Welsh national anthem for us.
