Whatever the weather, you can bet on changeable conditions throughout England. At any time of year, it's a good idea to pack clothes you can wear in layers.

It's not all grey skies; Nottingham enjoys rainfall well below the national average. But it tends to rain one day in three so be prepared with a waterproof coat or umbrella.

Summer days, from June to August, are warm to hot and the evenings are long. However, expect it to cool down overnight and don't be surprised by the occasional summer storm.

Winter brings cold - but not extreme - temperatures with some bright, clear days and the odd bout of snow.
